Sahodaya Complex Quiz Competition

Sahodaya Complex Quiz Competition

VIBGYOR High won the first place in Sahodaya Complex Quiz Competition held on 15 November 2014 at Podar International School, Kolhapur. Sahodaya Complex Schools around Kolhapur participated for this competition. Brahmanand Kori, Advait Kamalakar and Anish Malu represented the School. Mr. T. Balan, the Principal Congratulated the Students.

Swacch Bharat Abhiyan -Kolhapur

As an ode to the Swacha Bharat Abhiyan, the Vibgyorites of Kolhapur decided on a rally to promote their duty towards the nation and create awareness for the upcoming VIVA 2014.  With this thought, the teaching and the nonteaching staff of VIBGYOR, Kolhapur gathered together on 15 November 2014 at the appointed venue, the Railway station of the city dressed in blue jeans and white top/shirt. Armed with gloves, caps and the cleaning gear, the sporty troopers of VIBGYOR progressed from one center of the Kolhapur city to another.  The short and snappy quotes like “HAMARA BHARAT, SWACHA BHARAT” and many more accentuated the entire movement holding the spectators with varied feelings of anxiousness, approbation or probably motivation.

The rally served more than its purpose, as the Principal Mr. T. Balan quoted, “This one day cleaning of dirt is just an iota of what we intended.  What’s noteworthy is the message that we wished to convey to the commoners, and I’m glad we were successful in our bit in stirring minds and create an awakening”.

Thus we not only taught our kids to maintain hygiene, but did the cleaning ourselves and enthused many others to do the same. Everybody from the Principal to the ancillary staff actively participated in it. Now this is exactly how we lived up to the emotion;“Good things indeed start from home”.

A bike future ahead

Nine-year old Yuvraj Konde Deshmukh, student of Vibgyor High School, has shunned chocolates and gaming consoles to pursue his passion — motocross racing.

Children his age spend hours on their PlayStation consoles playing motor racing games and trying hair-raising stunts. Nut nine-year-old Yuvraj Konde Deshmukh has seamlessly bridged the gap between the virtual world and reality by taking his love for motorbikes to a completely new level. Serious about bikes and racing, little Yuvraj proved his mettle by finishing on the podium in the American Motocross Association’s race held at Lake Sugar Tree Motorsports Park, Axton, Virginia. Battling alongside local kids who were well aware of the off-road circuit, Yuvraj in an impressive runfinished second in the 3.2 km track run over four laps, in the age 7-11 category.
“My friends don’t know that I ride motorbikes. They think I ride those battery operated toy bikes for fun. There is just one boy who knows what I actually do because he has seen me doing it,” says the affable boy with a wide grin.
Yuvraj, who still struggles to sit straight for more than minute, picking random stuff around him while occasionally rolling on the couch even as his parents cajole him in vain, undergoes a drastic transformation when he is on a racetrack.
“I first saw him at the MRF Super Cross national race and was stunned by his riding skills. He was a cut above the rest. The way he throttled, I knew this boy could make it big,” says eight-time national champion Rustom Patel.
It was under Patel that Yuvraj, who stays in Pune, learned the nuances of motocross racing at his I-Land Racing Academy in Wadala. “I requested his parents to send him to my academy. He is a quick learner and is not afraid to take risks.”
Rustom said that it was Yuvraj’s splendid show in the race held at Aamby Valley last year that turned things around. “He was competing in U-14 category and beat those kids. I requested our director Atul Ajmera to send him abroad and he made sure that every expense of our trip was looked after. We even bought a brand new six-gear 65 cc bike for him to ride there.”
While all Motorsport races involve a high degree of risks, motocross racing tests a rider’s skills to the maximum. The races are run over natural and man-made terrain courses with hills, jumps and turns. “He is not allowed to eat chocolates. He trains for about eight hours a day apart from fitness and stamina building sessions,” Rustom adds.
Having been a rider before, Yuvraj’s father Sandeep, who completed the three-member team, was naturally proud to see his son but it is the mother, who still gets jittery. “I am not scared anymore but a night before the race is always spent praying. Even our maids join me in praying. It is a ritual that I have to follow,” Yuvraj’s mother admits.

With a successful run in the US, the team are looking to now target races in the subcontinent but before that the student of Vibgyor High School will have to shun his biking gears for a while. “I am looking forward to meeting my friends and teachers. I got a one-month off. When they know that I have returned with a trophy, they will be quite proud.”

Know Good Touch & Bad Touch

Augmentation of Safety and Security Measure for our Children

Augmentation of Safety and Security Measure for our Children

Dear Parents,

At the onset, we would like to thank you for your ongoing support during this hour of crisis. Our heart goes out to the child and the family and we stand by them with a commitment that we will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the guilty are brought to justice. We will seek maximum permissible punishment under the law for perpetrators of the heinous crime.

As a school we believe that we are stand in loco parentis to our children during school hours and the said incident has truly unnerved us and raised genuine apprehensions about the enhancement of security and safety of our children while in our care.

As a responsible school management, we have initiated a structured and time-bound intervention to substantially review and augment the existing safety and security systems in the organization.

We would like to bring to your notice some of the interventions that are being implemented on an immediate basis.

We are taking the following measures immediately:-

·         Substantially augmenting the number of female security guards.
·          Significantly expanding CCTV coverage across each of our centers using digital IP cameras (Night vision enabled) that will be monitored by a dedicated team.
·          We are taking steps to strengthen the perimeter walls of our schools as well as entry and exit points so that any external intrusion will be minimized and at no point in time any unauthorized person will be allowed to enter the school premises encompassing even the swimming pool area.
·         We will amend the disclaimer in question in the disclaimer form in accordance with the government guidelines.
·         We are equipping all our buses with a wireless tapping machine that will record the parent ID before the student is handed over to the parent.
·          A criminal background verification check by the police authorities will be made mandatory for our faculty academic, non academic & third party staff.
·          We are in negotiation with behavioral training organizations that will re-train the bus drivers and the bus maids with respect to child psychology and conduct periodic interventions to groom them on standard operating procedures pertaining to children availing transport. We already have a buffer of verified bus drivers who are deployed in case our regular drivers are not available.
·          We ensure that at all points in time our male teachers are accompanied by female education facilitators during any interface with children and further measures will be undertaken to ensure that there are no lapses in the existing procedures for the same.
·          In due course, we will ensure that we conduct regular training interventions to further sensitize staff at all levels to be appropriate and correct in their conduct to children and also to sensitize our children about good and bad touch as guided by counselors and child psychologists.
·         We will ensure that a PTA is formed at each of our centers (over 50%participation of parents), which shall also embody a Safety & Security Review Committee to review the safety measures every quarter.
·         Any changes in our staff pertaining to class teachers, coordinators, vice principal and principal shall be notified to all parents.
·         All parents shall have to produce bearer cards (Pre Primary to Grade1) for picking up their wards from the school or from the drop point location.
·         Our existing mechanism to send alerts to parents, about the child’s movement shall be further strengthened as we are reviewing our arrangement with existing vendor.
·         We will make earnest attempts to increase the number for female coaches to assist in supporting our sports and performing arts activities.

We would like to reiterate that VIBGYOR is committed towards creating a safe and secure environment for our children and we will make every feasible intervention to eliminate any possibility of any untoward incidents.

We would like to reassure you that there is no attempt on the part of the management to either cover up or delay the investigation or to shield any guilty person in any manner whatsoever. Full cooperation is being rendered to law & order authorities.

There are several reports in the media and on online platforms through which vicious rumors and false allegations against the school and its management are being propagated. We sincerely request you not to blindly believe these reports and to verify the facts with us. There is a team that has been deployed on a 24X7 basis to answer any query and we are doing our best to revert to you as quickly as possible.

We appreciate the support and valuable suggestions that are pouring in at parent.concern@vibgyorhigh.com and we stand by our commitment to revert to each of you on your concerns.

We thank you for your ongoing support and we stand committed by our resolve to provide highest quality education to our children.

Regards

Principal

A drop Of Blood, hopes for life!

A blood donation camp was organized at VIBGYOR High, Kolhapur on 1st February 2014.Where teachers, admin, and ancillary staff voluntarily donated blood. The camp was organized by VIBGYOR HIGH in association with "Arpana Blood Bank" in the School campus under the supervision of Doctor along with four supporting staff.

51 units of blood collected would go to the blood Bank. This blood donation camp was organized under the aegis of the Social Welfare of VIBGYOR High. Prior to the camp, staff members were apprised of the benefits related to blood donation by the Volunteers of Arpana Blood Bank.

According to the information presented on the occasion, only 50percent of the country's blood requirement is fulfilled through such blood donation camps. Hence, there is a need to create awareness amongst our youth for active participation in such a noble cause. On this occasion, along with all teachers, admin & ancillary Staff were present. Camp got a very good repose under the kind Support & supervision of our esteemed Principal Mr. T. Balan.
